Escaped inmate found dead on Vancouver Island - BERITAJA

A convicted slayer who escaped from a situation connected Vancouver Island has been recovered dead.

West Shore RCMP said connected June 28, astatine about 12:49 p.m., they were notified that an inmate was unaccounted for during the midday count astatine William Head Institution successful Metchosin.

An apprehension warrant was issued for 69-year-old Ernest Jensen.

On Monday afternoon, Jensen’s assemblage was recovered adjacent the shoreline along William Head Institution by the RCMP West Coast Marine Services alongside the Metchosin Fire Department.

RCMP said an investigation is underway pinch Correctional Services Canada and the B.C. Coroners Office into the circumstances surrounding Jensen’s death.

“We admit that incidents for illustration this are concerning, peculiarly for those who unrecorded successful the surrounding area,” West Shore RCMP said successful a release.
