2-year-old drowns in Ottawa River: police - BERITAJA

A two-year-old kid has died aft an extended hunt and rescue cognition adjacent the Kichi Zibi Mikan Parkway connected Friday evening, the Ottawa Police Service says.

Police said officers responded soon earlier 7 p.m. to reports of a missing kid successful the area. When emergency crews arrived, the kid could not beryllium located.

A ample hunt cognition was launched involving neighbourhood officers, the marine dive team, tactical officers and the aerial support unit, on pinch assistance from the Gatineau Police Service.

About 40 minutes aft the first call, the kid was spotted successful the Ottawa River by the constabulary aerial support unit. First responders brought the kid ashore and began life-saving efforts earlier the kid was taken to hospital. Police said the kid was later pronounced dead.
