Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan (BERITAJA) - The Provincial Government of South Kalimantan said that it has 390 tons rice stock from the Government Food Reserve (CPP) or more than enough to deal with the impact of flood disasters.

“In info calculation, the minimum stock needed as reserve is 166 tons, but South Kalimantan has 390 tons, more than enough,” said Head of Food Security of the South Kalimantan Agriculture and Food Security Agency (DPKP) Saptono in Banjarbaru, Friday.

“The consideration is that floods in various regions have the potential to occur for the next six months, so we are trying to add another 100 tons of stock through the 2025 revised budget (APBD),” he said.

This is one of the mitigation efforts for the impact of flooding that has the potential to occur in a number of areas in South Kalimantan Province.

To distribute CPP rice due to flooding, he said, the regional government must submit an official request at least through the local village heads.

In addition to CPP rice, the provincial government also has grain reserves stored in districts/cities with a total amount of 283 tons, or around 150 tons if converted into rice.

Even this year, Saptono said, there is a budget for grain storage which functions as a regional government rice reserve.

“We ask that every district/city have safe rice reserve as a first step in anticipating floods and other disasters,” said Saptono.
