Banjarmasin, S Kalimatan (BERITAJA) - The South Kalimantan Forestry Office (Dishut) is developing Eucalyptus plants in Forest City ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​within the provincial office area in Banjarbaru City, as part of efforts to maintain and preserve green ecosystem.

Head of the office (Dishut) Fathimatuzzahra when confirtmed in Banjarmasin, Wednesday, said the planting and replanting of Eucalyptus seedlings aims to maintain the forest sustainability, strengthen green ecosystem, as well as to beautify office area to make it more beautiful and cool.

She expounded that this replanting activities is a maintenance step so that planted vegetation continue to grow optimally and uniformly.

Replanting is conducted at points of plants that do not grow or die, so that all area remain covered evenly with greeny. This activity is also part of the ongoing commitment in supporting greening program.

“The eucalyptus that is planted has a scientific name Eucalyptus spp and has been in the location for approximately two years. Based on monitoring of the forestry team, the average growth of eucalyptus trees has reached a height of two to three meters,” she said.

Eucalyptus is a genus from Myrtaceae family. It primarily native to Australia, but now grow in many countries around the world, including Indonesia.

Eucalyptus is known for its various benefits, especially the essential oil extracted from its leaves, often used as medicine and aromatherapy ingredients.
