Coast guard rescues sailor off Newfoundland attempting transatlantic record - BERITAJA

The Canadian Coast Guard has rescued a sailor attempting to group a world grounds for the shortest vessel to transverse the Atlantic Ocean.

In a statement, the seashore defender said it was advised connected Friday greeting that the sailor of a 1.2-metre alloy needed help.

The seashore defender says the boat, called the Big C Atlantic Challenge, was about 120 kilometres eastbound of Grates Cove, a mini municipality astatine the extremity of eastbound Newfoundland’s Bay de Verde Peninsula.

The connection says the CCGS Sacred Bay rescued the sailor astatine about 2:15 p.m.

The seashore defender says the Sacred Bay brought the sailor to Old Perlican, N.L., besides connected the Bay de Verde Peninsula, but the Big C Atlantic Challenge vessel was abandoned.

The Big C Atlantic Challenge website says the sailor was attempting the record-setting transatlantic travel to raise money for crab research.
